Landport Ditch

A small urban forest in the old dry moat below Gibraltar's Landport Gate.

Matched with Iberian HighlandsWild project

Landport Ditch was a defensive dry moat for centuries. In November 2025 it became a planting site: volunteers cleared and prepared the ground during a week of evenings, and hundreds of Gibraltar schoolchildren made seed bombs of clay, compost and native seed for the launch. The aim is a small, dense forest that cools the street, cleans the air and gives schools a green place to learn.
